Grant
PLANT AMERICA Community Project Grants help enhance and beautify our public areas and community gardens. Project grants to GCM member clubs help educate adults and children about the joys of gardening and create a pride throughout the community. Grants may be used for physical landscaping or environmental projects, or for horticultural or educational opportunities for the community.
The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc. Plant America Community Project Grant may be awarded to a club for a new or existing planting project within their community.
This is a matching grant of up to $100.00 (in kind donations accepted.)
Only one application per year per club.
Must be submitted by postal mail or email by January 31 of each year. Winners will be notified by February 15th. (Checks are presented at the GCM convention.)
Application has a two-page maximum, front and back.
Application must include the following:
1. Project proposal – Beginning and expected completion date.
2. Description – Location of project with list of materials needed and plants used.
3. A before photo of area to be planted.
4. Proposed budget including donations and in-kind service. (*In-kind listing on back of page.)
5. Other group(s) participating in the project.
When project is complete, send a photo and brief summary of your project to this chairman.
This is a matching grant. The amount your club requests should be no more than the total donations listed in your budget on the application

In-kind – non-monetary donations are donations of goods, services, or time
A donor can give:
Goods: Examples – topsoil, mulch, timbers, fertilizer, plants, etc. Garden Centers: bird baths and feeders, benches, etc.
Services or Labor, or the use of Equipment
Time: City/county workers or other non-club members that provide a service
Judging Information
1. All applications are reviewed by the GCM Plant America Community Project Grant Chairman
2. Judging is based on the information contained in the application
3. Judging is based on the following Scale of Points:
Benefit and visibility within Community 40
Impact and scope of project 25
Participation of club members 15
Collaboration with community groups 15
