Landscape for Economically Challenged
The Garden Clubs of Mississippi encourages member clubs to better their communities by implementing planting projects for the economically challenged, including:
· individual homeowner
· government housing
· playground or common area in a low income housing community
· a project to rebuild/repair a home landscape, playground, etc. of economically challenged areas after a disaster
· Habitat for Humanity home
GCM strives to have both adult and young gardeners involved in these worthy projects by offering grants for these projects and by bestowing awards for the projects. Club donations are used to fund grants of up to $500 for Landscape Projects for Economically Challenged.
Everyone can help by volunteering their time and skills or by donating money and materials. Members are encouraged to help the economically challenged plan a landscape project, plant a tree or grow a vegetable garden. The goal is for every garden club in Mississippi to participate in these worthy projects.
